Executive Job Board: 6FigureJobs.com

March 18, 2010 by The Career Advisor
Filed under Top Job Search Sites

According to 6FigureJobs:

Voted “Best of the Web” by Forbes Magazine Voted WEDDLE’s User Choice Award Winner – The Elite of the Online Employment Industry 6FigureJobs is a premiere executive career community / job board that offers relevant online job search resources and content for $100k+ job seekers and recruiters. Over 650,000+ high-profile executives and senior-level professionals use 6FigureJobs to market their candidacy, post their resumes and search thousands of $100K+ executive and management level opportunities. 6FigureJobs provides only $100K+ job postings from leading companies and executive search firms, including C-level, VP, Director and Senior Manager jobs

According to Career Advice Column:

Pros: We believe this is the best executive job board available, for a couple of reasons: One, it is the only job board we’re aware of you can’t pay your way to get in. (Some posters who have been turned down for free membership have accused them by saying it’s a 6figurejobs scam, but we do not know this to be true) Free members and premium member have to prove that they’ve earned six-figures in the past; a threshold that many executive recruiters us when determining qualified candidates. This way, you’re not competing for visibility with others who are not truly qualified for the position. Second, you can get access and apply to thousands of  $100k+ jobs for free, something their competitors don’t allow. If you want additional exposure or more access to jobs, then they have a premium package available.

Cons: It’s approximately the opposite of the first pro; if you’re not already at the level of earning $100,000 annually (or have done so in the past), then they won’t allow you full access into their site.

Our Career Advice: If you think you qualify, sign up for the free, or even the free/confidential membership if you’re still at your old company and looking. This way you can look around, without any commitment or monthly fee. At 10 years and counting, we’ve found this to be an excellent board.

If for your free membership has been denied, and you have earned $100k or more in the past, simply write 6FigureJobs an email, and the will review your application again.

According to Career Advice Column:

Pros: We believe Weddle’s to be a great source for information on employment websites, and Peter Weddle is certainly the leading expert of a sometimes confusing industry where there is believed to be more than 40,000 sites where job seekers can choose to post their resume, and employers can search for candidates for their next position. The information is free, and Peter has a Career Fitness program for those who want invest a little more into their career path.

Cons: The Users choice awards are just that, votes on the best employment websites by users, who may or may not be the best judge of the sophistication or effectiveness of a job board.

Our Career Advice: This is a long-standing and trusted resource, but we don’t think you should post your resume to every award-winner on the list. Choose your sites carefully, and post to a limited number, so recruiters don’t see the same resume posted on many sites, giving the appearance of being desperate.
